Best Friends Animal Society, a major national humane organization whose philosophy is Kindness to Animals Makes A Better World for All of Us, is presenting a special weeklong series of events in Delaware this spring. This special week is designed to celebrate the joy of animals, strengthen communities and build relationships on behalf of the animals.
Everyone is Encouraged to Participate and Plan their own Events!
The 1st annual Delaware Week for the Animals will be held from April 19 - 27, 2008. Across the state, exciting events will take place to pay respect to the animals who add so much enrichment and love to the human experience. Humane organizations and compassionate citizens from every part of Delaware will be joining in this celebration. Everyone is encouraged to participate and plan their own events.
Throughout the week, shelters, rescue groups, and humane organizations across the state will be hosting animal-related special events. Educators, students, businesses and caring citizens across Delaware will be joining in as well, each planning their own activities to celebrate and help the animals. Events will include adoption fairs, spay/neuter awareness events, R.E.A.D. dog programs in libraries, an Afternoon for the Farm Animals, therapy dogs visiting in hospitals, salutes to our canine military and police dogs, feral cat initiatives, special programs at the zoo, blessings for the animals, and fun-filled festival days for families to come and enjoy food, music and the amazing animals!
